Alienware's 2017 offerings keep their classic, angular spaceship cases from last year, but much has changed on the inside. The Alienware 17 R4 (starting at $1,299; tested at $1,949 and $2,599) now. I've got the new 17r4, it's got a pcie ssd already for boot, looking to get a m.2 ssd for storage, which I noticed there are 2 types (m & b+m) which one is the correct version for this mobo, and which ones should I be looking at? In this guide, I will disassemble an Alienware 17 R4. I will remove the bottom cover to upgrade the SSD, HDD, and RAM.

There are two different types of screws, and I circled them with different colors.
Remove six screws (red) that securing the bottom cover to the laptop.
Loosen one screw (yellow). Insert a pick to pry up the bottom cover.
Under the bottom cover, you can get access to three M.2 SSD slots, two RAM slots, and a hard drive module.
From the picture you can see, Alienware 17 R4 comes with two M.2 2280 SSD slots (support SATA and PCIe SSD) and an M.2 2242 slot.

The Alienware 17 R4 comes with two 8GB DDR4 2667MHz RAMs. According to Dell website information, it supports up to 32GB RAM, so you can replace it with 16GB DDR4 2667MHz RAM respectively.
